any one of a dozen different reasons.. 1) Different rules
(for example, Canadian sweepstake wins can NOT be completely
random- that's why there is a "skill testing question" on most of
our contests) 2) Really different rules for Quebec (there
are so many that a lot of Canadian companies don't bother running
contests that include Quebec) 3) Cost to ship product North
(in many cases it is more expensive, plus different import/export
stuff) 4) Some thing aren't allowed to be sold up here, I
have *no* idea how this actually works, or why, but a few years
back I tried to get an LG monitor and a couple other things sent up
here, the company (very politely) told me that I couldn't have that
particular model number - I could have almost the exact same
monitor sent, but it had a different model number. One was licensed
for here, one wasn't. Seemed odd as I was completely allowed to
visit te states, buy the monitor, and bring it back, but .. eh. Not
an international law guy. So basically, yeah sucks to be us,
now alot of companies do have their legal departments work to make
everything nice and easy, but they are the exception rather than
the rule. And I really don't fault any of them for not including
us, as much as it does suck. I just assume they hate us cuz they
ain't us. pizzastorm: Canada definitely has some different laws regarding
sweepstakes (especially Quebec). Something we found out trying to
get this off the ground. I am making this a priority to get
fixed for future contests. We do not want to neglect all of
our players in Canada and will be working towards making sure they
can enjoy our contests/sweepstakes like the rest of us.
We are making an effort to be more inclusive to our
neighbors up north and south.
