Skygunner, on Apr 10 2014 - 12:24, said: I'll give you a perspective as someone whos been playing since beta, from the top. 5x exp - Cool...Never really complained about more exp. There's nothing not to like about it, we've seen it in the past. 15% off 12 and 6 month premium - oh...okay. I may have gone insane, but I recall previous discounts on this being more. But I could be wrong. As long as it's purchasable directly via cash, there really won't be much to complain about. Personally however, wouldn't partake. Yes, it's less expensive in the long run, but, that's only if I was intending to be playing WoT solid though the next year - year and a half. So, not bad, no complaints. we've seen it before. 3 and 7 day - Neat, makes it a lil easier for someone starting out, or unsure...I guess? Again, no complaints. we've seen it before. 50% off select tanks - Oh cool , which ones. ......... Oh. Well, If I was starting the game, that's....neat. Would totally tell people to pick up the T-127. Neat....nothing to really complain about, we've seen it before. 30% off select tanks - Oh, TOG II discount. already have one, but great time for others to pick one up, nothing to complain about, we've seen it before. 50% off equipment credits - Oh good an equipment sale. Sure lots of people have been waiting for that. I mean, personally don't need any more, but nothing to complain about, we've sen it before. 50% off Consumables gold credits - Cool, stock up on some of those, general thrifty ness. Why gold, only time I've ever done that is when it somehow changed back to gold without me noticing. And then wasted gold. hmm, I guess some people still buy them with gold...maybe? No complaints, nothing we haven't seen before. Crew Retraining - Oh...yep...no complaints, nothing haven't seen blah blah. 50% garage - hrmm, again, if I was new, good time to pick up some garage slots, wonder if their discounted price will be reflected in the bundles. NWHSB (nothing we haven't seen before) All the Missions - Oh cool, those are neat. Actual rewards for playing well instead of just being on the winning team. Yes it's capped, but lets be fair, people would mine gold all day otherwise. So, understandable. Yay 3 days of freemium, can't complain. PREMIUM SHOP - Gold Silver bundles Meh, meh, meh, meh, meh. KV- 5 - WHATTT? I reasonable priced KV-5? That, doesn't seem right. Huh...well call me a cynic, but there it is. Shame I already have one. M3 - WHATTT there's what I'm used to seeing, for 5 dollars less than the actually well priced KV-5, I can get an M3 Light. (that I already have) that, isn't that great, but it's unique. OH but it's bundled with all this other stuff like premium and equipment, gold, all of which are already on sale during this event. Improve Vent 1 - 25k in game. That's 1 match, not even a good one, or a win on your new KV-5. All that equipment can be bought in a day, especially at half off. I guess, for people who always wanted that tank...well now they have a shot...and wont feel so bad about spending 30 dollars on it (better than 80 dollars for a PZ 4 Hydro) because they get some bloat with it...things they'd "of bought anyway"....... Slopingham - 40 cents less, same argument applies as the M3. of course, if someone had those tanks in their garage already, and wanted them back, they could just use the new Recovery system...but....well....hrmm. That's all. I guess. But, why did I even reply? well.. Why on earth would I spend any money during this event. 3 years Wargaming, good job on three years and I'm gonna celebrate by essentially not playing. This is completely geared toward the new crowds, and not the people whom have actually been playing your game for 3 years. I'm not asking for free handouts, I don't need a little emblem on my tank saying that I'm an older player, there's a big fat Mutant 6 in my garage that can be pulled out to tell people that. I'm asking for a reason to actually spend money on this game. I like...world of tanks. I don't like so much that I'll just blindly throw money at it anymore. That KV-5 bundle, I'm honestly shocked to see it there, in the upper 30's. And not with "20, 000 additional gold, 2 months premium, for the low low price of 140 dollars" or something like that. If I didn't have one already....I'd probably buy that. But I have one. I've been playing for 3 years, of course I have one. Wanna hear the story? I was working a crappy job at target and it was out of my budget. So I skimped on food and worked extra hours to save up, and buy one. DONE. Got my tank, liked my tank and had it ever since. I went out of my way, in my real life, to get a tank from your company. Why? Because I liked WoT. It was worth it. But now...what's...worth it? Sure, sometimes a unique tanks pops its head in, but they aren't worth the value. I would never work overtime and skimp my food budget again to buy a Panzer IV Hyrdo that was over....about 10 - 15 dollars. Maybe 20, maybe. But even then I'd debate it. I have been playing so long, and have so many tanks, and so many experiences, that all these rare unique tanks that I've known of, and even tested on the old test servers. (BT-SV? PZ II J?) Even if they showed their head. I'd fully expect them to come at such ludicrous costs, that I'd never purchase. Do you know how long I've wanted a BT-SV, or a PZ II J. How often I've run into them and just felt disgusted because I know what the people had to do to get it. 150 USD, minimum, Most have payed 200 USD plus just to get it. Are any of these here? No Are there any rare tanks - Yes Are they fairly priced - one of them is...but 2 aren't. And that is actually more than I was expecting. far more . So I'm sorry, happy birthday wargaming, I'm glad that ya made it this far, I guess? But, I can't celebrate, there's no incentive. Sure the games come a long way, good, but for a long term player, all these discounts and bonus, simply allow them to keep doing what they've been doing for a marginally less cost. For new players, it's great. Really, it is. So...Theres my 2 cents. I know, my not spending money on any of this.....in the Wargaming budget, isn't a threat. I don't mean it to be, I'm just explaining why me, a player for a long time, no longer fee it necessary to spend money on a game, even during sales. I don't know what kinda sale it would take, to get me too either. Something really good, something...bargain. IE not the Christmas sales, not these sales, not and I've seen from the Gift shop for a long time. As for what it would take. I dunno. Maybe make it seem more like a celebration and not a cash grab? I played a facebook game (don't anymore) but every year it was on, the gave everyone a free little babble. It was a tiny train. Now, I'm not saying you need to give out a free tank. An icon, something nice to put on the side of the tank. Maybe a special camo, maybe a unique tank, a garage decoration, a SOMETHING. something at all, much better than the nothing. Is it historical? No. So what? This game isn't historical. Something unique though, something to celebrate with! It's supposed to be a party, it's supposed to be Wargamings party. This isn't a dance party, it's a Tupperware party. It's come over, look at some Tupperware, eat some free food and buy stuff then leave and get on with your life. -sorry got a little long there-
pizzastorm: Probably the most thorough and detailed review on a
special I have ever seen! Thanks for taking the time to write this
out and sharing.
