New person frustrations...

lord_farquad: I'd like to recommend some of the following:
Check out some of the player-made guides, here are some of the best (make sure to read even the beginner guides, as you'll probably be surprised with some things you didn't know):
Welcome to World of Tanks
Quick Guide
Skills & Perks
Camo & Vision Mechanics
Basic Tactics
More on game mechanics Next I recommend playing with each of the topics in mind, try reading a guide then playing several games keeping anything new you've learned in mind, then move on to the next topic.
Now I suggest you platoon with someone. Preferably someone far more experienced than yourself, and ask questions, lots of questions. There are plenty of experienced players here that would be willing to platoon with you. I recommend platooning with someone with at least 5k battles, as they're more likely to have the basics down.
Be patient, keep in mind that your W/L ratio really doesn't mean anything until you have at least a couple hundred battles.
Don't get discouraged. Ultimately you will lose, no matter how good you are, it will happen. The longer you play, the better you'll get, and ultimately that will be reflected by your stats, if that's what you're really going for. As for playing the premium, I am neutral on this one, a lot will tell you not to play in high tiers until you've made it there the hard way... but that's not necessarily the route you should go. The PzIV-S will make way more money than any of your non-premium tanks, so when you need money, you should play it, that's what it's for. Also, pay attention in those higher tier matches, you may learn something tactically that you wouldn't have learned in the low tiers, which will give you an edge earlier on.
Hope that helps
