_BIGZ_, on Mar 02 2015 - 21:29, said: About the open cup format, there are many things I have liked about it, but many things I don't as well.  For one thing I agree with a previous post that the first week should not just be about making to the second week.  The points should accumulate, this would not only promote teams staying in to get those points, it would promote teams sticking in there, knowing that they still had a chance to end up in the top 16 (up to a point.)  While the first cup should start out seeded randomly, after that the teams should be seeded according to the outcome of the previous group of fights.  This would promote more even groups, (there might need to be a little tweaking there.. maybe a few extra points per win depending on what group you end up in) Basically something that would still keep the fights with groups that are more equal, while still letting the best teams stay where they should be and get into the playoffs.  Any "new" teams would have to start in the bottom groups, and work their way up.     The cups points idea was a good start however it allowed for teams to get into the playoffs without having to put in the effort that many teams did.   And thus allows a chance for a team that only played 20% of the "CUPS" to walk off with the big prizes.   I applaud all of the teams this year that stuck with the open cup and played through most if not all of the cups, I also appreciate that WG is trying something different that I think attempted to fix some of the issues in past Open Leagues.  It still needs some work.
