But to answer your question, yes, even if the reward was smaller, I would still be willing to make the bet. Why? For the chance to get something for nothing. The reward is smaller, but it's still there.
If they were to cut the lottery prize, I agree there would be outrage and calls for change. People grow comfortable with the status quo and at times dislike trying something new, especially if it perceived as a downgrade. However, I highly doubt that there would be a complete boycott. Sure, some people may refuse to play, but the rest would, and perhaps happily so.
