Caption Contest #4 (Discussion Thread)

dance210: I could be wrong, but I think you are misunderstanding why the judging of the caption contest was changed. Since Major_Rampage is going through all the entries himself, it no longer matters if the players only upvote posts on the first couple of pages or someone gathers all his friends to vote on his behalf; those initial votes mean nothing to the voting process.
Reading throuh, there are a lot of duplicate posts, either very similarly worded or along the same theme. How can you (in general, not you specifically) be sure that an earlier post was copied and not that someone didn't feel like reading through the 1.6K posts to ensure that his was unique? I would say the only way would be to have everyone email the captions - which would be too bad as I enjoy rearding through all the captions:)
The judging issues for this contest are the same as for all their other contests. When the players are allowed to vote, there are accusations that finalists convince friends and clanmates vote for them, making it unfair for those not in a clan. When WG chooses the finalists or the winners, there are accusations that they are biased or the winners should never have been choosen because of reason x, y, or z. Frankly, it's a no-win situation but this way allows the player community a chance to vote for their favorites.
