So, I would assume that those who participated made sure that the tanks and CREWS were as decked out as they could get for the tanks they were to use.  Obviously, some players will have CREWS more decked out than others in the NA qualifying tourney.
What were the levels of the CREWS on the e-sports accounts?  Were they simply 100% base crews with no additional skills?
Were the players allowed (able) to purchase/mount whatever equipment they wanted?  Gold consumables and ammo?
What I am saying is that playing your own account for qualifying and then having to play a "stock" account for the finals makes a big difference for the type of players that NA sent to Ural.  I am speculating, but knowing of the players that won the qualifying I am simply saying that what they had to use in the finals was likely much different than what they use on a daily basis.
... and yes ed, I agree that the RU server teams were likely better battle tested/prepared.
I am not bringing mods into this discussion.  This is totally directed at setup of tanks/crews
