I am sorry but I strongly disagree. I have paid for stuff to support the game, and I want to play it full feature, not lose an arm over a couple of cheaters. Cheaters are your problem, and not mine as a customer.
What is being done right now is along the lines of removing chocolate bars from the bags of your customers (after being already bought) as well as the shelves of the store because of a couple of free riders who were jacking a couple of them.
From a business perspective, it is bad enough you failed to identify and prevent this type of cheating back in recent beta (which lasted for a year), now it is even worse you are hurting your own community over things you have failed to address when you should.
Be smart and do the right thing by addressing this asap, as opposed to waiting for a couple of months and let the revenue figures do the math for you.
Allow me to stress that, not only a lost customer is lost forever, but it he is always a guaranteed negative word of mouth advertising for you. Once word will get out you handle cheater instances so poorly, it ain't take long for bad reputation to build. And bad reputation sticks like lice.
