and your team. Artillery shells can take around 7 - 9 seconds of
flight time from button press, to impact.Get used to it. With the
coming "improvements" to artillery extending flight time of shells,
coupled with reduced accuracy, friendly fire from arty should be
more common to see after 8.6 update. Fun times ahead.Trevzor: Yeah, no. Current air time from that gun at max range is about 3
and change seconds. Still plenty of time to bork the shot but not
near as bad as stated. That gun is also quite effective up to tier
ten tanks, so seeing soviet arty of the current tier six and up
watch out. Soviets have some of the most accurate arty in the game
assuming it is a 100% crew so whacking a team mate should almost
never happen. That said, always assume your arty's crew SUCKS and
will hit you if you are near a tank. Sometimes arty safe means your
arty, too.
If you see the arrows denoting inbound artillery and you can kill the target in, say, 3 seconds or less prepare for HE rain. Personally, I "T" the target for every shot, usually twice. First a T with a time following, such as 10s. I will then T again @ about 2s then send the shot. At that point all tanks have had about 15 seconds warning that a shell is inbound and, hopefully, landing on or near that tank. If more arty did this it would cut down on these incidents.
As for your mishap, I am willing to bet that if it wasn't a T92 this wouldn't have happened in this way. If you haven't played arty yourself, or just not made it to the upper tiers than you don't know that killing enemy arty is the one thing you are EXPECTED to do. If you see a square on the map, your reticle needs to be on it. It is your job. He was doing what is expected of him. I'm not saying it was right, just expected.
