have a 12" hull, and I know the Chieftain's talked about the 8"
hull that was cast for trials. But does anyone know if any 10"
hulls were cast as originally described in July 1943? Or was the
idea of a 10" hull dropped entirely and if so, when?
The_Chieftain: I have not seen anything indicating that a 10" hull was ever
manufactured. I have a very faint memory, upon which I will not
rely, that the 12" came as a result of a decision to increase armor
over a previous design, but if that was 8" or 10" I cannot recall.
