The_Chieftain:   Are you talking about the VT series of prototypes? As I understand it, the sight was fully stabilized, the gun was fixed in train but stabilized in elevation. In a manner similar to how stabilization today, pressing the fire button really tells the computer "clear to engage when the gun matches up to the sight", so the gunner/driver would slightly traverse the gun across the target as he held down the fire button.
