T110's Second Century of Civilised Comfort

Now the autobounce angle will gradually increase instead of being completely eliminated for shells that 3x overmatch and 70 degrees for everthing else.   The Strv103 UFP should be more or less impenetrable on level ground since most of it is 50mm thick and even ~150mm guns autobounce at 76 degrees (the UFP is at 79 degrees). The 40mm lower plate should be penetrable even to 100mm guns though; it's at 72 degrees, and according to the diagram WG posted a ~2.5x overmatch ratio results in autobounce at 74 degrees.   What I dislike about the system is that instead of an exponentially increasing armour coefficient, the Strv relies completely on the ricochet threshold. Even without extra normalisation the actual effective armour is still rather flimsy (e.g. 40mm @ 72 is still just ~100mm vs AP with 5 degrees of normalisation, or ~115mm vs APCR with 2 degrees of normalisation). This means that a 100mm gun might bounce 100% of the time at 74 degrees and pen 100% of the time at 73.99 degrees.

The_Chieftain:   You are right, we didn't announce any changes to the normalisation system. That said, looking at what I have on my internal files, I'm looking at greater than 10 degrees normalisation for that 100mm AP round example.   Now, I do know that that file is an iteration or two old, the ricochet mechanic changed a bit, and I haven't been told the new system yet. The normalisation system may have changed from what I have. Or, they may have decided to leave it alone as it currently exists while they see the effect of the ricochet angle change. But if it is implemented, it's why I'm viewing the removal of the x3 system as not necessarily resulting in things like the IS-3 roof or the Batchat sides being invulnerable... So, I'm just cautioning people to wait and see what the actual effects are before condemning or responding with joy to the armor mechanic changes. I suspect folks are working on less information than they think they are, and do believe that the result will be 'intuitive'.
