He'll probably get a reprimand, and some kind of persona-non-grata 10th class from Ireland, or something. Must be a slow news day for this to make any kind of headline.   He's also the guy who killed the terrorist who shot Cpl. Cirillo at the National War Memorial a few years ago. The terrorist had managed to get into Parliament, and Mr. Vickers got his sidearm, and stopped further innocent bloodshed.

The_Chieftain:   The man who fired the fatal shot was Constable Curtis Barett, despite the initial reports. That said, Vickers did engage in the gunfight and hit his target a few times. I don't think he need fear Irish repirsal. If you look at the still photos, you can see the confusion on the soldiers' faces. "Should we help? I think we should help. But we're told to stand here, ceremoniously.."
