T110's Season of Goodwill and Peace on Ea... Ah, who are we kidding?

The_Chieftain: Spent today fighting with a toilet. What should have been a two hour job has turned into something of a nightmare as it turns out my 1964 house is so old it predates standard 3" or 4" ABS piping. I've got some bizarre 3.5" internal, 4.25" external, cast-iron thing. I look online, I've found another few people with similar problems in the past, the helpful folks on the DIY forums are saying "you're measuring it wrong, there's no such thing as what you're telling us".   I think I can bodge it. The bathrooms are up for a remodel in a couple of years anyway, so as long as it works... (Fortunately, I'm in a house with two toilets).
