The_Chieftain: OK, SS, I'm taking a look through that corrections list, and I'd
like to do a bit more than just "Hey, guys, could you review the
text descriptions for the Czech tanks please? Some folks are
concerned". As an aside, they've actually improved communication
between this office and the dev team in Minsk, I now have a
relatively direct line to 'production' to at least get them to take
a look at things. Some sources per objection might be nice,
after all, being as I am an American who hasn't dug into Czech
archives, read Dubanek, or Tintera, I'm in no position to tell
the lads in Minsk that their sources are wrong. "Some famous Czech
chap online at FTR" isn't gong to cut it. Also, I'm
doing what I can with my library here. Tier 1. OK Tier 2.
Your statement matches with what I have. Tier 3. I wonder about a
translation error. The Army's program of requirements started
1938, though I understand your point. A re-wording can be made, I
think. Tier 4. Tell me if I'm wrong here, but CKD and Praga are
basically the same company after 1929, no? Your statements
generally match with my info, however. (Developed by CKD, approved
for production primarily by Skoda, not built due to occupation)
Tier 5. I suspect another translation error, for "armament
equivalent to T-34." However, I have nothing on this tank. Tier 6.
I have nothing confirming or denying your statements. Tier 7.
Can also be explained by translation error, not incompetence.
When they started the program in 1953, it could very well have been
with a production start date of 1955 in mind. Tier 8. Seems
reasonable. I would think VTU would be an easy enough acronym to
verify. Tier 9. Your description says 'armed with several 100mm gun
variants.' Is it possible that the T50 variant here was one of the
ones armed with an improved D-10T as one of those gun variants?
Your objection seems based on one particular gun. Tier 10. Nothing
to add here.
