The_Chieftain: Round, I didn't talk about old weapons for several reasons.
Firstly, I still have not seen anything official as to what
happened. I've -heard- anything from breech rupture to hang fire,
and not all possibilities are exclusive to old weapons and
munitions. In any case, absent anything official, it is
inappropriate for me to put blame on anything. A weapon being old
is not inherently dangerous, a 90-year old heavy machine gun was
just discovered still in frontline US Army service. Secondly, the
likelihood of anyone in the general public reading this is highly
unlikely to be live-firing an old cannon anyway. If they do, I
suspect that they will be the subject of a very specific safety
brief from the owner/operator. Thirdly, part of the cause was the
recent salvo of posts I've seen over on RitaStatusReport, a
perfect, visible example of an inexperienced enthusiast who is
volunteering to work around the vehicles. As a result, the
post is aimed at general folks who are more likely to encounter
tanks in typical conditions,
