The_Chieftain: SS, two items, totally unrelated. In the US, a common
playground feature is old railroad locomotives. Usually steamers.
Which, considering how hard they are to transport compared to a
tank is saying something. I have to assume it's a cultural thing:
The railroads built America, while the tank saved the Soviet Union.
On the matter of the Pz III(t) designation, Spielberger has
the following to say. In the German Wehrmacht, the Panzer LTM 38
was used in the planned positions of the Panzer III tank, and it
was listed in some documents as the Panzer III(t). On 1 September
1939 there were already 98 of these tanks assigned to German units.
The official designation, following a directive of the
OKH/AHA/AgK/In 6, was "Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) (3.7cm)"
