The_Chieftain: Frankly, I'm inclined to think that the names were actually in some level of use. I don't even know what 'cooker' is in German, so can't exactly look it up myself. Perhaps the lads over on the EU side of the house in the German forum have some links to something closer to period (late 40s would be fine). (Googling "Tommy Cooker", as a result, is unlikely to come to anything even remotely definitive). But the point is, I think, fairly made. We have plenty enough examples of things which have achieved legitimacy simply because they are often repeated, even only in recent years. It is worth considering the possibility that this, too, is a bit of post-facto restrospective.
