several methods to selecting and training up Crew Skills, going
with BIA actually is BETTER than retraining to it later. I
say this coming from a point of view that I like to take something
that provides a benefit RIGHT NOW as it trains up. In other
words, though I PREFER to train up a skill (not a perk) until it
reaches 100% and then retrain later, I do NOT do it after only the
first skill and there's a good reason why. Even so, if you
take BIA first, the delayed gratification of not having something
provide a 'boost' during that phase, you actually are better off in
many ways. First off, you do not have to lose that XP from
the Crew Skill reset (unless you can toss Gold at it, then that's a
different story) from retraining the skills without using Gold to
do it. Secondly, the TIME you save (again, this is with the
caveat that you are NOT using Gold to do this) by taking BIA first
and then letting that 'boost' your XP earnings and performance
boost (2.5% overall gain on performance of your tank) will help you
generate more XP faster from then on, slightly speeding up your
overall XP grind to the next skill and so forth. I STILL
like to take skills that provide a growing benefit as I go, because
I think the little bit of a 'boost' you can get from that, even if
it saves you one death in a hundred, is one more chance you get to
earn more XP and that stuff adds up over time. The NUMBERS,
however, indicate that the most efficient path is to go BIA first
and delay the gratification during that period where BIA is being
trained. Just thought that was worth mentioning in
this particular discussion. And it comes from someone who
PREFERS to do it the 'less efficient' way. BIA first is
overall 'better' if you seek the most efficient path. If you
seek advantage at every turn, then go with Skills that grow as you
train them to gain that little extra performance 'boost' and
retrain later, knowing that additional 'cost' is purchasing that
initial up-front advantage, however slight that might be.

TeriyakiTanker: Unfortunately, I think most people don't agree with you. You
can just level your Repairs up past 100% and then retrain without
losing anything. There is almost no point in getting BiA
first because it does nothing for you at all during the time you
are trying to get it to 100% which could easily be 50+ games.
Meanwhile you will be getting more EXP with Repairs because you are
living longer and winning more.
