How can a tank deal more damage than its capable of?

TeriyakiTanker: You should post a replay.  Is it possible the shell bounced?  What vehicle were you in and what gun did you have on it?  I ask because I bounced an HE shell the other day from an arty and it shows me the blocked damage, so just wondering if it’s showing you the blocked damage.
