Tanitha: Because they aren't all online at once, The figures match up pretty well.

Quote On June 6, 2010, Eve Online claimed a new record for the maximum number of simultaneous pilots online with 60,453 concurrent accounts logged on to the same server.

Tanitha: So when Eve had 300,000 active paying subscribers, they only had less than 60k online. Because their max online was 60k a year later.

Quote As of May 6, 2009, Eve Online claimed to have more than 300000 active subscriptions

Tanitha: WOT had 75k online above, but I know they have hit 80k+ since then. Apparently they peak at 80-90k on weekends at the moment. So 90k max is a fair number.
Based on the eve figures above, 90k online at once would mean active player base of about 450k for a "pay per month subscription game."
Its pretty common for pay per month games, to have a more active user-base than free to play games, because when you are paying per month you need to stay active to not waste your money, and when you become less active you cancel the sub to save money. FTP micro-transaction games there is less pressure to be fully active because you pay for what you want, when you want. So the 450k active in a subscription game might be more like 600k in a FTP game. leaving maybe 400k inactive or alt accounts.

Quote World of Tanks has set up the new world record for the maximum number of users playing concurrently on the same game server. The peak of 74,536 online players

Tanitha: So already, with a unfinished game, WOT has double the active playing members (maybe 600k active 400k inactive and alts) than eve ever did/has on just one server.
So if someone doesn't like the game, that's fine, but to say the game will fail bla bla, is just wrong, the game already has succeeded imo...
