(which easily sustains 100+ FPS in the game, no mods
loaded) and have been running Pingplotter traces to your NAe
and NAw servers for a few days to figure out why I'm seeing
constant lag spikes/server sync issues with this game and not
others. There's certainly a problem hop on both routes that
seems related to your network provider of choice (TATA) or data
center hosting provider (G-Core) within the same region both of
your game server clusters are being hosted. West coast, as
soon as I hit if-ae-29-2.tcore2.SQN-San-Jose.as6453.net
(64.86.21.104) on the way to your San Jose, CA hosting
facility I start seeing 11-12% sustained packet loss and consistent
additional latency the rest of the way to your game server.
East coast, as soon as I
hit if-ae-14-14.thar2.NJY-Newark.as6453.net
(66.198.111.8) on the way to your Ashburn, VA hosting facility
I start seeing 11-13% sustained packet loss and consistent
additional latency the rest of the way to your game server.
It's certainly possible you were having other server/sync issues
that were fixed with whatever server side patches you rolled out in
9.17/9.18, but it seems that concurrently you've got a serious
issue with the network services and/or hosting providers you are
using that has nothing to do with the game servers themselves.
You can patch/fix/optimize servers all day long, but if the
routes your clients take to and from these servers is fundamentally
broken because the provider you've chosen is doing a lousy
job it's not going to fix the problem. You guys
really need to pull out your contracts with TATA and get to work on
figuring out the financial damages/contract termination
options you have to enforce what should be pretty standard
SLA's in a properly written network services agreement. This
sort of garbage shouldn't fly with a reputable network provider,
and their failure seems to be negatively impacting your reputation
and the willingness of your clients to purchase your "for-pay"
elements like premium time until the issue is resolved. Saffr0n: Do you mind posting your PingPlotter results?

finally had to do some troubleshooting on my own. For the NA
EAST server, latency (or "lag" to the uninitiated) is being
introduced by a network device that is addressed out of the IP
block that is controlled by WG. The network device that is
now uniformly introducing 20 - 30ms of latency is 92.223.118.170
and there is no reverse entry for this device. Note
that this device is NOT between me and my carrier nor is it before
the Cogent backbone. That device is operated by G-Core Labs
and it is this bunch that happens to be the Service Provider for
Worldoftanks NA, Worldoftanks EU and I believe Worldoftanks
RU. G-Core Labs "owns" the 92.223 IP block and since
they are the ISP that WG uses for WOT -- it would seem to make
sense that WarGaming can demand that G-Core Labs fix their gear.
I would attach PingPlotter output but a 39kb graphic is too
big!! PingPlotter shows (take my word for it) that the
offending device is a G-Core Labs owned device that is creating all
of the havoc -- and this has been going on for weeks now. It
really makes one wonder -- how can a Service Provider operate
network gear that, as a standard practice, introduces AN AVERAGE of
20-30ms of latency? So, anyone from WG listening?
