Wargamings new "Ranked battles" and what are they replacing?

Quemapueblos: Ranked Battles is not designed to replace Clan Wars as a competitive mode. Clan Wars requires much more of commitment than Ranked and is targeted at a slightly different group of competitive players.  Some players may not want to organize 100 people to play everyday but instead can play a few rounds of Ranked whenever they get together.
