Contests are fun to be in, Regardless or not they involve the game itself.
The system you're asking to implement in could result in about months or a year of development, Its not that easy as you think it is.
Further more, This game is free. You can't ask the devs for money everytime you do something "Heroic" in game now can you?
Even if the contests are only played by a small amount of players, It still counts, there are people out there who want to earn gold the fun way, Not the crazy "Heroic" way.
On a side note and getting back on topic --
If Overlord would be one of the judges, Its going to be chaotic
Edit : the game itself is already unique, You rarely ever see a game like this come to creation, Appreciate its still free to play... Please.
