Luftwaffle, on 17 March 2010 - 04:11 AM, said: OK, according to some calculation site, a 700 HP engine (such as
the one in the Tiger I) would be able to push a 30 ton tank up to
about 80 km/h. Somehow this seems unlikely, as the same engine was
used in the Panther, pushing it up to a max of 46 km/h, and the
Panther only weighed a tad over 40 tons. Does anyone know how fast
said engine would actually push a tank? I'm also considering using
a BMW 801 (first run in '39 luckily enough) which seems would be
putting out around 1100 HP or more. Any ideas of the effect of this
on a 30 ton tank (I'm assuming that the engine could be modified to
be used in a tank)?
MrVic: I can probably ball park it semi close.
1) Whats the tanks tonnage
2) whats the track type (width lenght ect helps not huge tho)
3) heavy turret aka proportional to the chassis or under sized ect
4) what systems its using electrics, hydraulics, electric turret rotation? ect
Have the engine type but hopefully can get it in range for ya.
