Question for history buffs: StuG stowage rack

Lert: So I'm planning to add a scratchbuilt stowage rack to a model StuG I'm working on. I can find multiple styles of stowage rack online:           Now, my question is: was there a specific design, or did the crew just weld on whatever they could in the field?
