Whats the point of sidescraping if people can just switch to HE and kill you?

Lert: HE shells don't ricochet. They'll sometimes do no damage under
specific circumstances. For example: - The shell hits the
gun barrel and explodes too far away from the hull to do actual
hitpoints damage to the vehicle. - The shell hits angled, thick
armor and explodes when there is not enough damage left in it to
bleed through the armor and do actual hitpoint damage to the
vehicle. In the second case, the crew voice may say that the
shell has bounced, but this is not the actual case.
Whether or not a HE shell can ricochet is easy to test. For this
you need a training room, a very soft tank (Like a Pz Sfl V C
Flakbus), something with a mediocre HE shell (Like an M4 variant
with the 76mm) and a fat german brick (Maus is best brick)
Park them like so:
If you've parked them right and
HE shells do ricochet, any HE shell shot at the auto-bounce angled
Maus will richochet into the flakbus and do damage to it. Test it
with an AP shell first. If you've parked them right and HE shells
do not ricochet, any HE shell shot at the auto-bounce angled Maus
will not hit the flakbus. A 76mm HE shell will be too puny to do
damage to a sidescraped Maus - .... I think.
