It's nice that you've at least acknowledged our feedback on the state of the forum and it's moderation. Hopefully improvement will result. Your statement doesn't exactly communicate to me any confidence in that happening though. It reads to me like you have no sway over the forum moderators and are not in a position to establish and enforce a standardized policy. If I am wrong in my perception then please correct me.
What I don't really don't understand is this:
The World of Tanks Community Guidelines, http://forum.worldof...ity-guidelines/ states "Below are some of the general guidelines to keep in mind along with our Terms of Use that we expect our community to follow." and follows with a list of behaviors that are applied to us as to those expectations. Instead of having a "chat" with us, an official page was created and was further linked to the EULA. Why? So that it would be fully documented as to what our behavior shall be and what the remedies are.
I don't see any guidelines as to what we can expect on the Mod's behalf as we move forward with this "clean slate". Don't you think it might be helpful for us and the Mods to have an equally documented set of behaviors to follow such as the one we do? Having it posted on a page in the same manner as it is for us fully documents what Mod's behavior shall be and what actions they amy take. It makes sense to me and would cut down on any confusion, inconsistency, and "trigger happiness". we see this now with the handling of appealing Mod's actions. You say "open a ticket", support says "PM the Mod.", it's not an official policy aywhere and not outlined in the EULA.
Speaking of the EULA, where exactly are the moderator's responsibilities and abilities spelled out? These are the only mentions I can find related to it.
What constitutes "a large accumulation of small acts"? That looks like something that could be used to go back and retroactively (and anonymously) issue warnings and violations in order to be punitive or settle a score.
To be honest, right now I don't see much how things will change until:The mods are both required to put their name on their actions.
Mods are limited to redacting only that text or content that violates the Community Guidelines instead of completely erasing whole posts. As long as those behaviors are allowed to stand it will be impossible to improve the quality of the WoT Forum and to curb the amount of negativity that has arises.
Laera: Hi Ziptar, thanks for your response! The Community Guidelines were
a first step. We're working to update Forum Rules and EULA to make
them more current, clear and understandable. Having mods sign their
posts is something we've talked about and may consider.
