Not only does it cause enormous confusion and self-questioning and wasted time ("Where's that thread I was participating in?  Did I really see the post I replied to that is now gone?  Am I actually insane or do I just LOOK insane for having answered an argument nobody new to the thread can see?") but it leads to questions that have (traditionally) been interpreted as "disputing moderation" -- a rule that's still (for good and obvious reasons) on the books.  I'm hoping that won't happen under the new regime, but it would be better to have policies that don't tend to make the situation arise.
