having an opinion, not that he doesn't meet mine. I don't
feel that being good at the game is a prerequisite for having an
opinion, but if it was, he would be excluded from talking about
arty by his own logic. I don't doubt that he has a better
ability level than I do in general, and probably a
better understanding of the game, except when he talks about
artillery. His stats show that he underperforms in artillery,
for whatever reason, and I challenge that, given his low experience
in that area, that he has a better understanding of it than I do.
It is no hypocracy to point out that others don't meet their own
standards. I agree that you find arty easier than other
classes. Personally, I find arty easier than other classes,
even though I have obviously worked harder at it. I do not
agree that the subjective judgement (arty is easier for you) can be
transferred to an objective judgement (arty is easier for all), and
would point to Battau as a fine player that struggles at
arty. I freely admit that you are better at arty than me, and
far, far better at everything else. I just don't think that
is relavant to be the best to have an opinion, and that even the
best must admit that his/her circumstances aren't universal for all
players. You cannot prevent being shot by arty, no, and I
never claimed that you could. I said that you could minimize
the effects of arty by a better understanding of how it worked, and
accounting for it based on your understanding. Pretty much
the same point that you made earlier about experience leading to
more skill. You have to admit that playing arty has given you
insight as to how to better avoid it, as you become acquainted with
what moves and positions can frustrate it. There may be no
place that arty can't hit in theory, but there are ways to account
for it, just like every other class. I agree that the stun
rounds are the only viable rounds, and for the same reasons.
I don't even bother to load the other 2 types. Further, I
agree that, after the nerf, the smaller guns are better
performers. I may not be quite at your level in terms of
skill, but it seems that we have the same philosophy, at
least. I addressed Battou because his is a bit
abrasive, and his deeds did not match up to his words.
Specifically, I have reason to doubt his understanding of SPGs
based on his shallow experience with the class (not because of his
low ability, they are different things).
Jaguarz: Your points are reasonable and well written, there isnt
really any comeback to them as they fall into subjective nuances.
What I take away from playing arty and Im in an active, spotted
situation and/or role is to hope they are aiming at someone else,
if I take a hit from arty I will go black, estimate their reload
and add an additional 10-15 seconds before being spotted again and
hope they have moved onto another target. Really I dont have
much of an issue with arty anymore, the days of being one shot in
your IS7 are long gone, I think they should be one per side but can
appreciate what that would do to people in the queue but then again
I think lights should be capped to no more than 3 and wheelies are
obnoxious and worse for the game as they currently stand. I also
think the long autoloaders were better balanced than the new, fast
ones but thats a different topic. Back to arty, as it stands
its totally toxic just due to what you can do and if you arent
being toxic in it then you arent playing it very well and thats
just a result of its design and implementation, personally I would
love a smoke round or other variety of rounds. Invisitank in magic
bush at e1 in prok? Dump smoke on his [edited]and render him
useless or force him to move would be great (imo). As it
stands, I dont have any great hate for the class it just is what it
is, I just find people wanting the class to buffed to be grossly
unaware or incapable of using its powers of abuse.
