Jaguarz: The "shot callers" are the accountants, they dont care about
opinions, it goes like this Current devs want to plow in a ton
of pay to win in order to get a short term glut of money so they
get bonuses and share options, in a normal game enviroment this is
standard practice, see EA, they pump and dump games for short term
gain to please shareholders. Problem for the development team
with eyes on a payday is Wargaming is held by very few individuals
who dont need a short term cash grab, they are happy with it
printing money hand over fist year in year out. Therefore any
changes (like this) which would have an impact on the revenue
stream will have to pass by the accountants in all manner of cost
benefit analyses and it would have to be a damned convincing case
that revenue will be increased overall to get past them. But
they foisted this junk on the console you say? Well the console
version makes virtually nothing so they can pretty much do what
they like and take risks, the PC game however is a very different
animal. This is the wrong time in this games life for any
garbage like this, every time, EVERY single time a large scale core
change has occured, in a game which has long exited the expansion
phase and is in retention mode, its been an unmitigated disaster.
SWG is the best example of this. Now the devs will try and use say
FFIV as an example of how significant revision can reinvigorate a
game but FFIV was in its infancy, not its late middle age. So
I cant fathom this mess getting past the bean counters, it wont
pull in any new players, it will alienate a great many existing
players and giving people "work" to do which can take hours and
even days to get all crews sorted out, all or which will need to be
planned, before they can just play the game is insanity. I
dont care either way really, theres plenty of other things I can do
with my time.
