going to blast me on this thread, rather then say, nice job Grizz,
glad you are getting better. But I am expecting too much. I am
amazed on how the WOT community relies on the winrate of a
battle to judge the competency of one player out of 15. Its not
logical. How well a player is, is based on too many scenarios
that can go wrong and out of his control. If that individual plays
the best he can regardless that his team is getting steam
rolled 2-15. That should be what counts. Example, on
wot.labs my wn8 is improving wotlabs.net/na/player/Grizzwal. But my
winrate is in the junk pile. Why can't I get recognized for
that? It would help those that are trying to be better
for the team, to get a slap on the back every now and then
instead of being ridiculed in battle after battle how badly
their winrate suks. An attaboy every now and then does help
with improvement. Same as a slap in the face has the opposite
effect.Jaguarz: Because WN8 is easily padded, in fact, its easier to get a
higher WN8 by letting your team fail than it is on wins most of the
time. Its not a completely worthless metric but it only tells a
fraction of the story and as I said, its easily gamed so has to be
taken with a pinch of salt. Overall win rate is easily gamed
too if taken on face value because a 70% win rate could be the
result of 10k games in the tier 3 LTP but its easier to deconstruct
because you can see the individual win rates per tank and laugh at
the low tier padders. Win rate is absolutely something you can
effect yourself, its not easy, the difference between a bot and a
good player is literally only one game in ten but its there and
measurable. Winning a game takes awareness more than anything,
sometimes to win a game you have to hold a flank solo and make it
appear that there may be 5 tanks behind you, sometimes you have to
sit in a bush and spot, neither of these highly valuable activities
yield any WN8 at all, does that make the people who do it
worthless? Of course not but WN8 has no capacity to measure
it. I play to win, I play all games to win, it seems to be the
entire point of games to me but I also play high risk, high reward
strategies because I get bored easily. Fastest way to improve
your win rate is to platoon with someone who does well, not to be
carried by them but to see what they do, to support their plays and
to learn otherwise people get stuck in their habits and will almost
always go to the same places on a map because it feels comfortable
to them and they just continue to repeat the same mistakes and
cycle.
