Gnomon: If you've never been to Yosemite, I highly recommend visiting (if you're going through California). I went there camping once, and it was an amazing experience. Although, it can be very touristy and traffic can get pretty bad.   Plus side to dealing with the people? Seeing this stuff up close (pictures are not mine):
