GeneralDirection: Nope, not a dev--still Head of Community for North America. But one
of our own did move on to the production team. Jinxx71 is now a
Producer on World of Warplanes. 
The cool thing about the CM team is that while we're not game designers, we have been given the opportunity to design some of the content you see--including specials and some stuff coming in the future. We've also had a hand in the push to improve the matchmaker, among other things.
Our main job--even though writing interesting articles, sharing things on our Facebook page or creating contests is fun--is to make sure player feedback is heard. Hopefully we've helped to improve things around here by doing so. The design team definitely wouldn't be able to keep up without the CM teams (for every region) reporting feedback to them.

The nice thing about 2x credits is it won't be replaced by something else in a special, so you can always expect that.
I think I'll put together an article explaining the way we design specials, as well as some of the philosophy behind the frequency of certain bonuses/discounts.
