HE nerf being reversed?

Draschel: Artillery can and will damage and destroy tanks. But its
context is very unlike how you are portraying it. An
105mm howitzer battery (common WWII medium artillery)
could have saturated a battlefield, thousands of HE-Frag ordnance
over a short burst. The typical situation in that an 105mm HE-Frag
shell lands *onto* or rightly adjacent to moving vehicles are very,
extremely rare. Most WWII main battle tanks (mediums) have at least
38-51mm side armor, which is 1.5-2in rolled steel, for the exact
reason of resisting shell splinters or autocannon immunity. Now, if
the examples of Panthers, Tigers, Ferdinand, Tiger II are used in
that they are gang-banged at nearer ranges VS self propelled or
towed artillery, such as 105 / 122 / 152/ 155mm guns firing direct
fire HE-Frag ammunition, directly onto the target - what you have
is no more an *artillery* concept. This is direct fire, Anti-tank
gun role, with a different ammunition and
velocity. --Artillery in indirect, looping action is
extremely inefficient, ineffective, wasteful at targeting AFVs. Can
it happen, certainly. Does it happen, not often. Does it involve
huge expenditures of stockpiled ammunition with low net-ratio to
success, yes. But in this game it is rather the contrary, decently
effective. --An artillery in direct, LOS action against AFV
but using their typical HE-Frag and WP ammunition, can certainly
disable and destroy enemy armor. But this isn't the issue, because
they no longer are serving as artillery, but are now simply
direct-fire guns shooting an improperly designed shellcase for the
job.
Block Quote _Hatsune__Miku_ 22, 2021 I am finding myself playing less and less and honestly lately playing without putting to much effort. I think I am login in and hitting play out of habit until I can find another game. My biggest grievances with the game are #1 the gold spam: the ability to know your tank and be able to protect yourself from incoming fire is gone. Having the players research where the weak spots on a tank are is not there anymore. People wanted a simplified game of point and shoot and that honestly made me lose interest in the game as is. I can also load gold and shoot to others the same way sure, but then I would be part of the problem...that is not a solution... #2 the nerf to the HE shells: as a player who liked to play arties here and there and tanks like the KV2 Type etc. this killed a lot of the fun for me. Clearly fun is subjective but for me being able to dig out some of the tanks that can just hull down dominate a match was important. #3 player base attitude: the fact that the player base has turned in to a me myself and I attitude is slowly killing the game, people are playing on a selfish way and do not care if they win or lose as long as their third party stats look fine. Just look at rank I was used twice as a shield heavies play red line hull down OMG just horrible, honestly will never play the mode again.
Draschel: Games don't last forever. Its a long run already. 1--
gold spam isn't an issue. Gold spam is a grievance used by
complaining defeatists. I see armor working all the time. and if
you think the game is press 2 and shoot gold and pen and win, you
are most certainly mistaken. 2-- the nerf to HE shells
something we needed back in 2011, nevermind 2021. HE has been a
crutch for people to lean on for a decade. HE teaches very little,
other than complacency and laziness, instead of valuable things
like positioning and map awareness. While I do believe some aspects
were too severe, like spaced armor / tracks x3 thickness buff has
been too much, moving that to normal x1 effectiveness and removing
weird high HE random damage rolls that exist seldom, makes the good
HE changes much better 3-- playerbase attitude is an
impossible task. There will always be bad attitude. There will
always be good attitude. No one cares. This game doesn't measure
attitude. It measures results. No one cares.
