DomoSapien: The IS-3 certainly can't pull off as many super-aggressive plays as
it used to, but becoming familiar with how the armor angling on the
pike nose works will allow you to make some decent plays around
corners.
Everyone has pretty much already mentioned this, but treat it as a medium and go with your medium push should you find yourself in a game with a lot of tier X heavies. You can't efficiently trade with them, so babysit your HP and play it as a mid-line harrassment tank (punish the enemy when they are distracted by your allies) or bully some enemy mediums from a nice hull-down position.
You have 265mm of pen on your APCR rounds, which should be enough to penetrate most tanks you'll run into. If you're having trouble penning a tank in your IS-3, you'll likely have trouble penning it in your IS-7 as well. (250mm on AP and 303 on APCR) - I hear tier VIII strongholds are also a good way to grind credits & XP.
