Why do Some Argue Against Skill Based MM?

always exist due to in game decisions etc, but by making
the skill component more evenly distributed, you would reduce
the number of matches that were blow outs based on bad MM. There is
no perfect system. Lets be honest. People, in most cases, that
don't want SBMM don't want to face players of like skill
because the challenge would inevitably lower their stats, although
that is in fact the definition of fair. Random, by definition is
random, so it is sometimes fair and sometimes not. I think what
people would like that favor SBMM is to tighten the randomness of
matches to lower the number of blow outs, if that makes
sense. I don't think anyone wants free wins.
Just remember, in skill based MM there is one
of each skill more or less on BOTH sides, so if a bad
player is put on a better team in your scenario, there is a
guy on the other team just like that who plays a
part in the win or loss so no one is getting a free win.

DeviouslyCursed: You are wrong. Players getting more wins under SBMM are
getting more free wins for the same output. Period. Trying to
rephrase it doesn't change that FACT. SBMM gives better
teammates to worse players, creating teams that are vastly
different between players depending on your skill level.
FACT Under Random MM my teams and any other player's teams are
the same over time. There is no difference in my teams vs a 42%
player's teams vs a 60% player's teams. That is
FAIR. Under SBMM the bad player will have better teams than
me, and the great players will have worse teams than me. This is
NOT fair. Your solution to use SBMM to reduce blowouts is a
failure to understand what people are telling you (likely because
of you next quote below). Statistically about 27 matches out of 100
are blowouts. SBMM with closer matched teams would yield about 24
per 100. So only a change of 3 matches per 100 games. That is not a
reason to screw over the players that have made and effort to get
better. Thank you again Neato, for linking the data.

DeviouslyCursed: Bold added. These two statements conflict with each other. If
you really believe that last part, you are NOT a logical person,
not matter how may times you claim it. What you are really
saying here is: "I will believe what I want to believe and I will
keep believing it regardless of any factual evidence presented. And
since I can't see the inconsistencies in my thought processes I
think I'm being logical, because it makes sense to me."
