Random battles are anything but random.  WG has an algorithm that determines which side is going to win, in spite of any XVM  predictions.  The randomness of any of these  battles was lost for sure when they closed down the West Coast server, turned it into the lost proposition that they call the SA server, and consolidated the US & Canada a single server.  That single action truly screwed up match making more than any template(s) they have ever implemented, during the tenure of this game.  Don't believe me, doesn't matter, it's so and the statistics prove it.
