sub-par steak. You complain to the server that the steak is several
days old and not at all fresh. The server goes back and talk to his
manager and (miraculously) discovered that the error was from a
labelling mistake by the American slaughter house which sold the
sub-prime steak, before it was imported and distributed in Canada.
The screw-up was made several layers down the line and there is no
way for the restaurant to be easily compensated (and it is clearly
not the restaurant's fault.) However, there are no legal obligation
for the restaurant to compensate you either.
ChrisK: I saw this the first time you posted it, and frankly, it just
doesn't relate to the current situation at all. We're serving great
steak in our restaurant - you're complaining because you're stuck
in traffic on the highway (not our driveway or parking lot), it
takes you a long time to get here from your house, and you can't
get to the steak. We're not going to give you your steak for free
when you walk in, but we'll be happy to say "sorry to hear about
that traffic on the highway, please sit down, relax, and look over
the menu - you must be hungry!" when you get here. And if we can
call the Department of Transportation or State Police and in any
way influence them to improve the traffic situation, we'll do that
- but don't expect it to have a lot of impact.
