How ot get experience

If I don't do well I get around the same, unless I run out and die noobishly in the first 2 mins. Some matchs I get 3-5 kills.Some only 1. Only on rare matchs do I get more then this amount. I am wondering if there is something I am missing on how to be a better team mate and get better exp. I always try to help and not just think of my own safety. If I see a heavy getting flanked I will go and do all I can to help him. Sometimes it works out sometimes it doesn't. Any help is greatly appreiciated.
