Which 12 Tanks Should I reserch?

ARGO: IS4 / Tiger / VK3601H / Hetzer / StuggIII / T-29 / Priest / KV-13 /
Jagtiger / Sherman "any" / Pershing / and your choice of Tier
10.
These above tanks are by far my personal favorites for these reasons:
Fun to drive / use
Effectiveness
Ability to reap good exp / creds "in premium or not" naturally the higher tiers can be exceptions.
Armour / firepower
Gun accuracy
Weapons selection
In short, don't stick with just one tree, there is so much out there and a lot of it properly elited is good so do not limit yourself.
