High Tier Responsability

I don't pilot an uber high tier tank, just a T-44, but when i see i'm in the top 3 of the tank list i think that what i will decide to do will have an impact on the whole battle. I mean that if i get pwnd early in the match, the lack of a high tier tier tank will penalize the whole team.
So, when you are in a T-44 i think that you need to take risks and be in the front line to be effective with your tank class. The problem is that in WoT, when you take risks you are about to be smashed hard and quick. I recently took a Panther's shot in my ammo rack and went from 100% hp to 0% hp with one shot.
The question is, what do you guys think you have to do, try to be effective at what your tank is designed for and risk to penalize your team if you fail or just be verry cautionous and don't participate enough regarding your tank tier ?
ARGO: Just as you have a legitimate point, There is also a counter point
which is equally important. When your teams Super Heavy is out
there, That tank needs to have serious back up from Arty + Mediums
because like arty, when you lose your heavyies 9 out of 10 ten
times you lose.
Fact: Heavies are only as effective as their back up is.
Fact: Heavies themselves can't win games but they can lose them without support.
Fact: Heavies Usually account for most of the damage inflicted on other heavies so Arty/Mediums can take em out.
You are right about the occasional "P.U.T.T.S" players who think they are Patton and want to go it alone and you may never be able to change that, but this problem isn't just to do with Heavies, it takes the entire team to win a game. Not just heavies or mediums, or Arty.....It takes teamwork and communication.
