Why do I suck so bad?

I've been playing for about a week now. I read some of the sticky posts but I'm looking for some advice.
I decided to stick with russian tanks and have upgraded a few. I have the level 3 SU-26, and level 4 T-28 and SU-85B. I play one, it gets blown up, then I exit and play another.
I'm getting a bit frustrated now though, because it seems like I'm just terribly easy to kill. To the point where it's just not fun at all. For instance, I really want to get through my T-28 and get the heavy tank after it, I need 12k xp still and I average like 50-100 xp a game. My tank is usually in pieces within a minute or 2, and I think the tank has gotten about 3 kills so far. All of them were stolen from other guys on my team that already did all the work and I got the cheapy last hit. I have all the upgrades on it except the most powerful gun, but I don't expect that will make a difference. If I travel with a group, there's usually a heavy tank or 2 with me, and I'm taken out first. If I hang back and play "protect arty", I'm blown to bitz by someone I never even saw on my map. If I go after the light tanks, they drive circles around me and blow me to bits, even if I lock onto them.
I feel like in most cases I'm getting grouped up against really higher level tanks that can blow me away in 1 shot, like maybe the game match up system isn't very balanced? The most fun games I have been playing are when I use my newbie starter tank. It just seems like a chore to play anything else, and a game shouldn't be a chore. Do I just suck that bad? I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I try to be careful and pick my targets and all that stuff, it's just frustrating when you can't even stay in a game more than 2 minutes and all it takes is 1 hit to knock you out 9 times outta 10.
ARGO: Good things take time and practice my friend. There is no way to
rush things here and anyone who says different is a liar. If you
need help learning, I and most players will gladly help you. The
first thing you need to learn is to never second guess yourself and
don't over analyze every move, Just do your best and learn from
watching others what works and what doesn't. We all make
mistakes....noobish ones at times but that's the human factor. It
is always good to ask questions, Remember the only dumb qustion is
the one you didn't ask.
