How to report someone on the forum

iScending: Greetings everyone, Its come to our attention that some players may not be aware of how to report someone for breaking the forum rules and, more importantly, what happens after you've done so. Therefore I've put together this little "how to" and "then what?" topic and I hope it will answer any questions you may have.   1. How do I report a post? Each post has a "Report" button. It is located at the left bottom corner (see spoiler below) and clicking it will prompt you to fill out a short description of why you are reporting the post (vulgar language, spam, trolling etc). When you're finished click "Submit Report" and you are done!   2. How do I report an avatar?
Same as above, simply click the "Report" button and specify that you are reporting the players avatar instead of the post (or as well as the post, if you want to report both).   3. What happens after I've made a report? The report enters a queue and the moderators will deal with it as soon as they can. It is important to note that this forum gets several thousand visitors and several hundred reports are made each day. All of these are checked (yupp, all of them!) by the moderators and they make a decision on whether or not a post breaks the rules. This also means that it can take a bit of time (days sometimes) before your report is dealt with. There is no need to make multiple reports about the same post nor to PM the community staff about it! Your report is NOT gone and it will be dealt with.   4. Does a posts reputation have any influence on how it is sanctioned? No. Reputation has no impact what so ever on anything on the forum, it is an arbitrary number that does not affect anything at all.   5. Can I report anyone, including moderators / staff?
Yes, absolutely. If you feel a member of staff has made a post that breaks the forum rules report it! The staff that is reported will not deal with the report but instead delegate it to another member (if he / she picks up the report) and we will treat it as any other report.    6. "I reported someone yet I still see the player is using the avatar, why is that?" The moderators may not agree with your reasoning hence they didn't action your report. For example if you report an avatar featuring a My Little Pony because you feel it is promoting another game, the moderators will most likely disagree with you and not action it.   7. Do moderators act alone? No, not at all, all of us work together and both us (the community coordinators) and the moderators are in constant contact with each other. Sometimes we ask for a second opinion on something, sometimes it's the other way around.    Edit 26/05/14 8. Does the person I report know it was me who did it? No. We will never tell the offender the name of the person that reported him, if actions are taken against him the only name that will appear on the warning is that of the moderator that applied it.   Edit 28/05/14 9. My topic has disappeared! Have you deleted it? No, we don't delete topics. If you can't find it then it's under moderation. This means it's hidden from anyone that is not a part of the community team until the report has been investigated.   Hopefully this post has shed some light on the way things are done here and if you think a question has been missed please send me a PM and I'll edit it to the post.   Thanks for reading guys! iScending
