insults and chatbans: question to WG

KillingJoker, on 20 February 2019 - 06:17 PM, said: But your not censoring, you are banning for a period of
time, its completely out of proportion to give a full chat ban to
any player... just because during a discussion in battle he used a
word X or Y that is already suposed to be filtered by a system in
chat... Discussions are part of any competitive environment, among competitors and inside teams
eekeeboo: The filter word is for yourself, not for every other person.
Just because there's a filter doesn't mean you should feel the
right to behave like a cretin and insult everyone and anyone how
you choose. It's like swearing on the TV just because
you know it will be beeped, just because it's censored,
doesn't mean you should spend 90% of your time swearing.
HassenderZerhacker, on 20 February 2019 - 06:20 PM, said: maybe you could describe the process of how a bad word turns
into a chatban. then we could understand it better.eekeeboo: You've got people reporting, and you'd be surprised just how
many do this when they see you swearing and you're picked up after
triggering systems. You can see VERY clearly the exact sentences a
person writes and exactly how offensive and out of line they were.
It's not the best idea to discuss all the ways a person can get
around the chat ban system, but a person is never banned for not
typing anything and not misbehaving in chat.
Isharial, on 20 February 2019 - 06:57 PM, said: in a sense, they are onto something there... if
I was to swear at someone and tell them to take a run and jump in
English or French etc.. etc.. the system would pick up on that
pretty quickly but if I said the same thing in Cornish, not only
would WG not know what I just said, neither would the player im
talking to eekeeboo: There are various filters you have and a comprehensive list
of words that are naughty.
LincolnTank, on 20 February 2019 - 07:05 PM, said: Perhaps acting like adults and asserting self-control is the key,
instead of gobbing off?eekeeboo: A phrase I haven't heard in a while, it's making me miss
fish and chips!
Erwin_Von_Braun, on 20 February 2019 - 08:19 PM, said: A wodhes'ta kewsel Kernewek?eekeeboo: I have google!
BlackBloodBandit, on 20 February 2019 - 09:18 PM, said: I got a chat-ban, while already having a chat-ban.. it doesn't make
any sense, as I wasn't able to chat anymore (not even with
platoon/clan members, which I find crazy) and seriously giving a
chat-ban for pinging at players that don't play doesn't make sense
and it was the only way I could communicate/express myself. I see
too much in this game that is not discouraged by WG, but players
who try to make a change for the better get punished.. world upside
down if you ask me.eekeeboo: Are you sure your bans weren't catching up to you. And why
would pinging a person who isn't playing help? All you're doing is
harassing the people who are playing and distracting them!
peregrine, on 20 February 2019 - 10:01 PM, said: At what point will you start watching the people abusing
physics? The people who block and push out players? All
those novice drivers who managed to ram you every other
battle? Because that is also in your rules and yet doesn't get
punished at all.eekeeboo: You have that with unsportsmanlike reports and reports to
support in extreme cases. And yes, people do get punished, just
because you don't see it, doesn't mean they're not punished.
TungstenHitman, on 20 February 2019 - 10:40 PM, said: Am I to assume the chat ban system is automated and detects the use
of bad words, you surpass your weekly allowance and then get a chat
ban? or is the chat ban system based on "reported for using bad
language" by teammates? It's another WG logic right up there
with their addressing of team killing by allowing more team killing
with the blue status "kill the blue team killer" which is just more
team killing obviously, instead of just the team killer turning
blue for himself to see followed by a ban with any additional team
damage there after. Anyway, there are several chat options which
just highlights the stupidity of it all. Being toxic is not good,
we all get that and know it. But why allow the display of bad
language then? That makes no sense. When you download and play this
game, bad language is blocked as a default setting, a player must
actively disable this setting so... that just raises the
questions and logic as to 1. Why include an option to
uncensor and display bad language if it's clearly against the
rules? really? REALLY? 2. If as a player you find bad
language offensive and it's actually censored as a default
setting... why the fork uncensor it then?? are you for real? you
hate bad language and report players for using it, even maybe make
a ticket with replay attached yet you actually went our of your way
to change the settings so you can see the bad language and get
offended? lol!eekeeboo: You can still make offensive statements and phrases without
using a single word that doesn't trigger the "bad language filter".
I mention above that just because there's a filter, doesn't mean
you should feel the right to be fould and abusive.

for being an idiot… I do hope the parser can distinguish between
admonishing myself and insulting my teammates… eekeeboo: There is a distinguishment and I doubt people will report
you. If you've had a particular moment of special play, then you
might get an UC report, but you should be safe!
