missed what I wrote. I have not experienced this kind
of dislike/hate for a part of a game in any other game I have
played. This includes Starcraft Broodwar, where your tactic was not
dislike or hated to a degree even close to arty. Hypercarries are
not hated/disliked. And in Dota 2 no hero is banned in a 'season'.
Heroes can be banned in games due to how the hero picking works.
Dota 2 carries are not hated or disliked, they are sometimes deemed
to good/OP, but there is a huge difference between thinking a hero
is to good and hating/disliking the hero. 11:19 Added

population didn't hate thieves. 11:24 Added after 6 minutes There
is a vast difference between whining about OP or UP stuff and the
whine we see in WoT community about arties. One is about
things being to strong of to weak. The other is about a thing
having a bad impact on gameplay/fun/lacks counter/doesn't scale
with skill etc. eekeeboo: My mage didn't.... And afaik a huge part of the WoW population

I didn't miss, I pointed out opinions on OP/UP and
the way they are perceived vs different situations. Zerg rushing is
famous for that exact reason. You had hydra spam, you had marine
health ships etc. There's always something stronger and something
weaker. That dislike was definitely there, especially in ranked and
competitive play and cheesing tactics. The big difference from old
to now is that communicating with the population is far easier now
than it used to be, with central game company forums vs community
run forums etc, when streaming wasn't a big deal. If
you don't see hyper carries hated I would assume you have not spent
enough time reading the chat. I'm aware of how hero picking works,
and why is it that certain heroes are banned? Each
expansion has a hated class, whether it be rogues in PVP, disc
mages in pvp too. Or the ever-present favourite of facetank
paladins. If you read the particular statement that
sparked this was that no matter what it is, no matter the game,
there will always be whine at a OP/UP or mechanic of a game people
don't like. You remove it, something else takes its place.

were levied against the Hunter class as are here, that fighting one
was never fair, most of who played them were noobs, and similar
brilliant conclusions mostly dependent on the outcome of the
moment. Shamans came a close second but were mitigated by their
initial overpoweredness, in extending the comparison they were the
Bobject of WoW. The kind of dislike/hatred you see here
for arty is neither universal nor common; you see a lot of
complaints here because this is the place people come to in order
to complain. People dislike things depending on the outcome it
generates, and it isn't typically so much a class as a mechanic
(which may be tied to a class). People hate artillery primarily
when they get hit by them, when their own artillery's hitting the
enemy, or enemy artillery misses, then nobody cares. Similarly if a
WoW Rogue stealthkills you while waiting for the zeppelin, that
generates similar hatred to being hit by artillery but if you break
the Rogue's stealth and subsequently kill the Rogue then great.
In ESO, people whined about Sorcerer damage shields all the
time, but if they caught a Sorc with his shields down and killed
him, working as intended. One of my favourite duels ever in that
game was against a Nightblade (ESO's version of a Rogue) who,
fighting my Sorcerer, whined that he couldn't kill me because I was
defending myself against his burst with damage shields. Never mind
the fact that I couldn't kill him either because at the end of
every burst he'd stealth and wait for cooldowns, THAT was "skill"
somehow. Other examples work the exact same way, sticking to
this game: Premium ammo is a problem, unless a player needs it
to pen something. Armour is a problem, unless the player's bouncing
shells. Matchmaking is a problem, unless the player is top tier.
Pick anything that people have whined about over the years and
you'll find the same hypocrisy. Go to any game's forum and you'll
find the same types of threads we see here, whining about whichever
mechanic just caused the player in question to die/lose. If you
were to change based on the complaints of the forum you'd end up
with a game where every gameplay avatar is identical because the
complaints are always of the same type: somebody else shouldn't be
able to do something that I can't.eekeeboo: Another thing to consider is that in WoW the mechanics
involved in hating a rogue or stealth kill was on PVP for which no
everyone partook. And as you point out, it's OK to not
like something, it's personal, just don't expect an entire game to
tailor to your individual needs.
