QB video everyone is talking about

communicate, so i'll bite. While i do understand the necessity to
move the videos to the video section, those 5-6 threads you've
mentioned aren't the best argument for this point, as most of them
appeared as a consequence to this thread being unfairly moved from
the gameplay section. People perceived this decision as unfair,
that's why they kept making threads about it there, to keep it
where it rightfully belonged in the first place. In my opinion,
each thread should be actually analysed for what it is. So it
contains a video. Is it about the video's content - like a good
battle or so? Move it to video section. Is it about promoting the
channel or stream of it's author? Move it to video section. Is it
about promoting some shady content or person? 86 it and hand out a
nice fluffy ban. But when it is about nothing of those, but
primarily about emphasizing gameplay aspects for discussion, leave
it in the damn gameplay section, simply becouse there's where it
belongs. As for the sticky threads - that SPG one in particular -
the point i was trying to make is this: artillery is one of the
most problematic mechanics of this game and it influences gameplay
in many and complex ways. There are multiple aspects of it that
need to be discussed (that's if you guys at WG really care for
feedback), and that can't be done in a single sticky thread, no
matter how much you may want it. It's just not possible. Think
about how it would be like if you tried to concentrate the whole
gameplay section in a single sticky thread. It's just not
practical, at all. People will bring different aspects in debate at
the same time, discussions will overlap and shortly it will end up
in a big pointless clusterfu... errrm... mess. Becouse it's only
natural in those circumstances. And that's exactly what's
happening in the sticky arty thread. Not very constructive,
wouldn't you agree? I know there was/is lots of spam about the
topic, but this doesn't justify suppressing proper threads on the
matter by simply dumping the whole domain in a sticky. It's like
trying to stuff a whale in a coke bottle and then wondering why it
doesn't fit. Kinda dumb, if we are to openly admit it. I don't mean
to discuss moderation here as i know it's against the rules, but i
just want to make an honest and (i hope) constructive suggestion:
Let people post constructive threads about arty, let us debate
every facet of it in separate threads, it'll only give you proper
feedback. You'll say ok, but there will be a lot of spam. Well of
course there will, but that's where you guys come in, isn't it? Let
constructive debates develop and where you see spam, simply
intervene. Delete spam threads/posts. Hand out nice fluffy bans
when and where they're needed. But in the mean time be there, in
the eye of the storm, collect feedback and show us you're there and
really care about it. Last but not least, i really wish i could
find that plenty of information and instances where my last
sentence in the post you've quoted would prove incorrect. I really
do, becouse i love this game too. But so far i can't. Yes, i look
to the changes announced to things like prem ammo and MM, but...
they're nothing more than vague announcements which in fact say
nothing. Not to mention that there's nothing about arty being
mentioned in those announcements. You're asking me to believe that
you guys at WG really care about our feedback while you do nothing
about a problem that's been constantly emphasized by the community
since the very beginning of the game? Trust me, it's really hard to
believe you under these circumstances. WG claims they care
about player feedback and want happy players, and then off they go
making nice graphics, emblems, decals and this kind of things,
while players keep pointing out the gameplay is destroyed by bad
MM, broken arty, unbalanced tanks, double standard ammo etc. If WG
really wants our trust, it's really easy to earn it: fix those
things first, and only then worry about cosmetic changes no one
asked for. It's really that simple. Best regards!
Sorry, but i completely disagree on this one. Vehicle
discussion forums are for discussing vehicle characteristics.
Threads about how arty as a class affects gameplay belong nowhere
else but in Gameplay section.eekeeboo: I agree with you in part, but it's got to be done
carefully on the exceptions you make, as soon as you let one video
stay, you get people then saying (as they already have) "Why no
this video when that one is allowed, you just love QB" etc.
We found the most neutral thread not overly promoting and
made sure we kept the discussion where possible. Some threads from
the ones locked were discussing moderator actions as much as
linking the video again, which poses a different problem and leads
to more sanctions by the moderator team. We understand the
sensitivity of the topic and we want to encourage the discussion
and feedback, in this case, a small error in judgment was made,
that was remedied as soon as it was found out. After that I can
only explain the reasoning behind those actions and ask for
understanding and explain why things have to be this way, I'm not
sure if you remember the days when half the forum was arty threads
and the other half was "go here to twitch" threads or hammering on
certain youtubers. Each thread was assessed when we
made the decision to bring this thread to the main focus for
players to discuss as it broached the least amount of forum rules
and was the most neutral in tone with no bias on polls, or
complaining about actions/moderation or WG. These are the types of
discussions we want to encourage, objective and constructive.
The artillery threads, have all been discussed at length,
those that are legitimate discussion stay, but you will find a lot
of those artillery threads are not about feedback or discussion.
It's complaints or demanding changes because OP or broken or
insults on people who play the class. The aim was not
to suppress these threads, but to ensure that people remain
constructive and positive in the threads without it devolving into
midden distribution threads. The main reason for the one thread is
not to hide everything, but because arty threads go out of fashion
and slowly end up hidden, then a new one comes along and the great
cycle of forum arty life continues. (cue Lion King). I know it's
not the best or ideal, but unfortunately somewhat necessary to
prevent this frustration causing element of seeing the same thing
over and over. For upcoming announcements, the most
in-depth information (so far) will be coming at WG fest where
hopefully all the exciting news will answer all your Christmas
wishes. I, unfortunately, can't share more than this at this time,
but as soon as it hits and as soon as I can, I look forward to the
discussion. PS apologies for not saying thank-you for
the well structured point and feedback, It takes a lot to answer
these posts fully and not miss anything.
ZlatanArKung, on 11 December 2018 - 07:46 PM, said: Did you actually read the thread with the poll in? Because your
idea that that one contains more discussion about the video then
this one is simply not true. The reason moderating is
discussed at all was because you moved the thread in the first
place. And this thread also contains posts questioning your
moderating, unless you removed those posts. I agree only 1
thread is needed, I don't agree with how you did make
it happen. You get PMs about how many arty threads
you lock is really none of my business. It is bad that you get them
of course, and it shows you are doing your job. Your second
paragraph: Is gameplay the place for "complaining, shaming and
"whining""? Or what? I know this is what a vast majority of
threads in this section are about. But is it the aim for you? Or do
you have another goal with this section? I could think that
a goal for this section would be to promote good discussions
regarding perceived issues with the game like matchmaker. To
discuss what constitutes good gameplay (how fast/slow paced should
the battles be, for example) etc. The sad part
is that if I wanted any of this "Those subforums are for vehicle
discussion and guides and advice etc" While intention is clear, it
simply doesn't work. If I want to discuss how
arty/HTs/TDs/MTs/LTs or any specific tank currently work
within the game (their roles (perceived and actual) strengths and
weaknessess, good or bad design etc), I would be forced to post
here on gameplay instead of in the vehicle discussion subforum
forum if I was interested in getting input more then once/week or
something. I believe there is a lot that could be done to
this forum that would be fruitful for the company you represent.eekeeboo: That thread started with a bigger advertisement than this
thread for instance. Next *I* didn't move anything, it's important
to distinguish this, once *I* and other members found this issue
and tried to fix it asap with a link to the threads and making sure
that not everyone receives the points and bans that would normally
come from such discussions on moderator actions. We did this
because we understand the sensitivity and want this discussion to
evolve and value the feedback. We understand its importance and the
need for players to share their opinions. This (I hope you
understand) needs to be done in a positive/constructive way as
possible with the least amount of toxicity. I do have
an aim for the gameplay section and I would like to work with the
team and look at making the structure of the forums clearer in the
future and helping to remove a lot of the spam and hateful topics
that tend to end up sticking around cluttering the place. It's
something I/we want to improve. Gameplay is for places
like issues and in-game mechanics, I agree. But like mentioned
above this section should be just as much about sharing good
information on playing the game or super secret tactics and players
helping one another just as much. For the last part,
please refer above, I'm less than 2 weeks in and don't want to
change too much too quickly with my current work-load. But you need
only look at the World of Warplanes forums (if you remember old to
now) on the changes I helped to bring around and make them easier
to navigate and better for players to contribute there. I have
similar dreams for these forums! "Let's make forums great again
2019!"
NoobySkooby, on 12 December 2018 - 12:20 AM, said: Ah ok lol, nothing to do with outrage at censorship then,
sweet.eekeeboo: Absolutely not, we were attempting to make sure that
all the discussion happened in one location, without the spam and
diversion. Unfortunately the way the discussion evolved in some
threads and the way moved threads were handled actually breached
more forum rules than the others. You will note the distinct lack
of mass ban wave and warning points for all the times the rules
were broken on the issue to illustrate understanding on the
sensitivity of the issue and ensuring people understand this is not
about censorship, this is about keeping the discussion on-topic,
constructive and not about promoting one streamer over another and
not opening QB or other streamers up to abuse or criticism for
expressing their views. (As you can see already happening
here).
