We continue presenting interviews with Ural Steel Tournament qualifying winners.
And now it is time to meet ThePfeil, leader of RedSky clan which won in 6/60 Division on North American server, who eagerly speaks about his friendly team and its tactics, and about his expectations of Grand Finals in Moscow.
How did your team gather? And who are its members? How long have you been playing WOT?
- Red Sky is one of the preliminary registered clans on WoT NA servers, so the members participating in the Ural Steel Competition are all part of it. Many of us have been playing WoT since the early stages of closed beta, but we also got members that are pretty new to the game, after all we're not so much looking for "experienced" players, but for players that fit in our very close group.
How long did it take for you and your teammates to feel free in battles, to become a single whole?
- It actually didn't take long for us to act as "one", probably because due to our XO's excellent briefings everybody knew what task he had and where he had to go. We also try to play in platoons as often as possible and try to get into battles with several platoons at the same time. (on a side note 4 or 5 men platoons would help improving that very much, hehe)
How did the decision to participate in “Ural Steel” Championship come?
- Naturally, as soon as the Ural Steel Competition was announced on the WoT main side, our officer's corp got swarmed by members that were eager to participate. All we had to figure out after that was which division we would join. As you all know by now, we chose the 6/60.
What were the most popular vehicles used by the team members?
- You will surely understand that I can't get too specific on this question (nice try though, hehe). We used vehicles of all the nations available and everybody was happy to play whatever was needed for the team, no matter if it was a tier 6 heavy or a tier 1 light.
Were there any difficulties your team were facing during battles? Who were your most severe opponents?
- Of course we were running into difficulties several times, since our opponents refused to give away their setup/tactics before the battles, but my team really did an outstanding job on overcoming these obstacles and turning the tide in our favor.
Who was the most severe opponent? All teams we were facing were putting up real fights, but if I have to pick one team out in particular it would have to be Brothers Grim. They gave us a very intense, nervewrecking and close 4 battles, most of us won't forget for a long time.
What do you think about the organization/requirements/rules of the Championship? Would you like to have changes anything?
- Compared to the first competition that was held, the "battle league" (which we were participating in the 8/90 division) I really appreciated how well organized this one was. Fixed battle times and that special invite system worked just fine. On this behalf a big "Thank You" to the team of Wargaming NA that did an excellent job on organizing this competition.
What are your expectations from the Grand Finals in Moscow? How easy/difficult will it be to struggle with Russian and European (I corrected that lol) players?
- Well, first of all I expect everyone to enjoy this unique opportunity to go to Moscow and meet all these people we have been playing with in person.
I don't really know how hard it will be to battle the teams from the other servers, but we expect some tough competition, after all it's the grand finals.
Do you have any unique tactics that are always helpful, or have you prepared something special for the Grand Finals?
- Hehe, yet another question I can't give you an answer right now. Maybe if you ask this one after the finals again?
Would you like to wish anything to your partners /your EU-server supporters or rivals-to-be?
- Of course we wish both our Russian and European opponents the best of luck and much fun during our time and the matches in Moscow. And for our supporters, we will of course give it everything to get this title for the North American server group
Thanks alot. ThePfeil (aka Jan), CO Red Sky
