As promised, please find below a clarifications from Michael Jivetc (Storm) on the mechanics of "damage assist" bonus, that will be introduced with the next patch.
Assist-bonus for removing (disabling) a tank’s Tracks
Players will start receiving experience for removing the tracks from a vehicle if it is subsequently damaged by an ally.
It what cases is the experience bonus applied?
If you remove a track from a vehicle or hit an already damaged (removed) track, your allies then have to damage the enemy tank, while it is immobilized by your actions.
How the experience points are allocated?
The so-called “assist bonus” is divided into two parts:
Bonus for immobilizing the enemy tank
Bonus for damage inflicted to the de-tracked enemy by other players Note: A player that performs both actions will receive both XP point bonuses.
If several players fire at the same enemy, the assist bonus is distributed between them in the following way:
The player, who removes the track gets both bonuses until the track is automatically repaired
If during that period another player hits the track - by this action extending the repair time and immobilizing the enemy for a longer period - he will receive the bonus for damage inflicted to the enemy tank by other players from the moment when the original auto-repairing would have ended after the shot of the first player, until the moment when the track is repaired after his own shot. In addition, the player, who originally removed the track, will still continue receiving the bonus for immobilizing the enemy. And so on and so forth… To understand it better, let’s look at the following picture:

The green color denotes periods, when a player can receive the assist-bonus. Let's look deeper into each period:Tank 1 receives both parts of the bonus: the bonus for immobilizing the enemy and for damage being inflicted to the immobilized enemy by other players;
Tank 1 receives the bonus for immobilizing the enemy; Tank 2 receives the bonus for damage being inflicted to the immobilized enemy by other players;
Tank 1 receives the bonus for immobilizing the enemy; Tank 2 receives the bonus for damage being inflicted to the immobilized enemy by other players;
Similar to period 3. The duration of the periods can be different and depends on the individual hits and the damage received by the tracks as a result of those hits.

Q. What does the player get for the removing the tracks: experience points, credits, or both?
The player doesn't get anything for the fact of removing the track. He receives experience points for the damage that is dealt to the enemy he immobilized.
Q. Will the player receive the assist-bonus if he gets destroyed immediately after removing the track of the enemy?
Yes, he will, if the enemy is damaged before the tracks are repaired.
Q. Can the player simultaneously receive two types of bonus: for spotting and for removing an enemy’s tracks?
No, he can't. The player can get only one type of bonus in a given period of time. In this case the maximum bonus is selected.
Q. What will happen if an immobilized tank with one removed track gets the second track removed too?
The rules of the assist-bonus extend to both tracks simultaneously. This means that the player who removed the second track will receive the bonus when his turn comes (see the picture with bonus acquisition periods), just as if he had hit the track that was already removed.
Q. Will players who receive the assist bonus "steal" experience from players, who inflict damage?
Yes, they will. The experience "deduction" mechanics are similar to the one that we have with spotting. At the same time, if we have two types of bonus (spotting and removing tracks), the bonus is multiplied by two, but taken only one time.
