TheFuzzyOne, on 24 April 2014 - 09:10 PM, said: It's essentially an uparmoured CV90. The CV90's current
(known anyway) resistance is all around resistance to 30mm APFSDS,
so I'd imagine this would be a step above that given the extra
weight allowance once this prototype actually builds into the
intended model (if it ever gets funded anyway). Basic
guesstimation? Resistant to 40mm on some arcs/angles and with some
reaction elements against RPGs but not anything like resistance to
take out a main cannon or fully blown ATGM. But then the whole
point is that of fire support, not MBT. So that could very well be
quite acceptable. If one thinks about a slightly heavier CV90-120
then it maybe wouldn't be too far off. That said, nothing is
known at all about what lies beneath there and the future in
service thing likely won't look anything like this so who really
knows?
TheKroo: I like your comparison, it indeed did remind me as well of
the Combat Vehicle 90. Yes imho the fitting role of this
vehicle would be as fire support, not a MBT. Good guess on
the armour resistance, but as you have said, remains to be seen.
